“Re-Build”: a project concept for the restoration of buildings by a new participant of the URF competition

Daria Zahrebelna, a postgraduate student of the Educational and Research Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, is a new participant of the Ukrainian Reconstruction Fund’s scientific competition.

Due to the armed aggression against Ukraine, a large number of buildings of both social and critical infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.

The goal of Dariia Zahrebelna’s scientific concept is to develop software for designing buildings using artificial intelligence, which will significantly speed up the process of restoring damaged buildings and designing new ones on the site of completely destroyed ones.

The cost of developing the initial version of the software product is about $100,000, which is less than the cost of building one house. In addition, there will be savings due to the analysis of energy efficiency and the possibility of using renewable energy sources at the planning stage.

According to the contestant, the project will significantly reduce the time for design, as well as make the use of funds more transparent, as it is possible to calculate the cost of construction impartially.

Important advantages of the concept include reducing the influence of the human factor, in particular design errors, and the active use of construction waste (generated in connection with the armed aggression against Ukraine) in the construction of new buildings.
