Ukraine, as a future EU member, should already be concerned about high energy efficiency standards. In particular, during the reconstruction of war-affected communities.
This was emphasized by the founder of the Ukraine Reconstruction Fund, Pavlo Kostiuk, following a private meeting with investors in New York.
“Energy efficiency is at the top of the energy policy agenda of civilized countries. And it is no longer so much about the exhaustion of resources as about the responsible attitude of people to the climate and the environment,” he said.
For Ukraine, the introduction of advanced energy-efficient technologies will mean, first and foremost, saving money for sustainable post-war recovery.
“Even in the communities that have been under occupation for less than a month, thousands of houses have been destroyed. If we now rebuild them and social facilities according to energy efficiency principles, we will feel the effect, according to rough estimates, in the form of resource savings of more than 60%. This means that large funds will be freed up that can be invested in other promising projects,” says Pavlo Kostyuk.
He added that he welcomes the legislative changes that Ukraine is making on its way to energy efficiency. He also called on community leaders to understand the situation so that this principle works at all levels of government.
